January & February are usually slow months for photographers, the weather is usually yucky or too cold so not many outdoor sessions are scheduled. This gives us time to attend workshops, trainings, reflect on the years past and plan forward to the year to come. I have been praying about my business and direction for the upcoming year. Over the last couple months I have felt drawn to pick a specialty area and keep my business to just that area of photography. By choosing a specialty, I can better my craft by investing time and money into those focused areas. Kind of like… You’re not just a teacher, you’re a Science Teacher or a 2nd Grade Teacher. We all pick specialties and focus our time learning and growing in those areas. Therefore, starting March 1, 2012 I am only offering Weddings (including engagements, bridals, and newlyweds) and Newborns (including Newborns, 6 Months, and One Year). Two totally different specialties, I know!, but this has been weighing on my heart and now seems like the right time to make it official. Weddings have always been my specialty and majority of my business but there is always room to grow. This past year I opened a Newborn Studio and hopefully in the months to come I will officially give the Newborns section their own blog or website, and continue to grown and learn in that area of photography.
